Post 7 - Thank You Letter

May 23, 2012

Dear Mrs. Cintula,

Thank you for working with me these last ten weeks. I really enjoyed class K-002 and my first experiences as a teaching assistant. I appreciate that you were so nice to me the last ten weeks. That was so important to me because when I came to a strange place the first few days, I was nervous. That was the first time to be a teacher and have students calling me Ms. Yuni. This was my first time to see how a kindergarten teacher looks and how a kindergarten class functions.

I am thankful to you for teaching me while you were also teaching the students at the same time. I really learned!  I had never heard so many English fairy tales before. Before internship, I didn’t think that I would want to be a teacher.  But I might have changed my mind because of you. I can see that you really enjoy teaching students. I am inspired by you.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to work with you and class K-002. This is a very precious experience.

Sincerely,

Yuni Deng

Post 6 - Photo Essay

This is the classroom I always work in. This is a kindergarten classroom. They are 5 tables called blue, green, yellow, red and orange. Students write and read on the tables. But sometime they will site together on the carpet to listen the teacher Mrs. Cintula read them a story book. Most are fairy tales. I enjoyed to listen the story.
This is the playground. There two different have two side. The picture above is for 1st grade and kindergarten to play. Another picture is for 2nd and 3rd grade. I also work in there everytime when I came to the school. Because it's lunch time. Students had to ate lunch or play in the playground. My job was to stand in the playground to make sure they play safely.

Post 1, First Impression

The internship was started on March 5th. When I first day came into the Brooklyn School of Inquiry. It’s a very new school and I saw lots of children good work on the wall. This is my first walk in an elementary school. It looks a nice school. I think kids are happy to learning in this school.
My supervisor is the parent coordinator, she’s name is Kelly Baxter Golding. She is a nice and friendly. She is a patient person. She told us what to do when we coming and she bring other interns and me to introduce each of us to the class that we work in.
Ms. Kelly is my supervisors. But also the teacher that I work with is my supervisor too. She is Mrs. Cintula. And she is a nice person too. When I first go in the classroom, I got a 5 seconds introduction. Because Mrs. Cintula was very busy. We don’t talk more after that. And I stand here to watch her teach students. So many posters, student’s pictures, their work... are all on the wall; and I look at it. (One class have two teachers, I know he is helping Mrs. Cintula but not to teach kids. Also he is a nice person.) At the end of last class, Mrs. Cintula introduced me to the students. They said “Welcome” to me.
The first day I was a little bit nervous. Honesty, I feel a little embarrassed to stand in a class room at the first day. Some of the students look at a confused face with no speaking. I know they think “who am I?” (Because the teacher haven not introduced me at the first I came in). They feel weird about me and I feel weird they look at me. But I know they are nice friendly children. This is my first impression at Brooklyn School of Inquiry.
